Feel Small in a Big, Loud World? It's Okay If You Do
There are days when the world feels overwhelming – too loud, too heavy, too divided. And in the middle of all that noise, it’s easy to wonder if your voice, your work, or your presence really makes a difference.

Hey, this is It's Okay If, bite-sized permission slips. I'm Matt Gilhooly, and today's permission, it's okay if you feel small in a big, loud world. I had one of those days recently where I opened up my phone, I scrolled through the headlines, and the world just felt overwhelming. Division, hurt, conflict, noise, and I sat there thinking, what am I even doing?

Can I do anything? Does my voice even matter? Does my podcast, these stories, this work, does it make a dent in any of this? And maybe you've had those days too, where the world feels so heavy, so fractured, so loud, that you feel tiny, invisible, maybe insignificant. But here's what I'm learning. Feeling small doesn't mean you don't matter. It means you're awake. It means you care. It means you're paying attention.

And maybe we don't have to change the whole world today. Maybe we can start by showing up in our small human ways. Listening, creating, loving, trying. So if today you feel tiny in a world that feels too big, that's okay. You're still here. You still matter. So if you're up for it, tell yourself, I give myself permission to feel small and still take up space in this world.
